長老Brosco 的抉擇

Brosco看起來很puppy, 好像只有兩三歲，但其實年紀開始大了，皮膚又容易出毛病 ，又超重 （醫生說一隻正常的雪橇狗有25 kg, Brosco 是32kg, 超過了28%!!）, 想找一種適合他的狗糧，為他保持標準身形及健康身體，似乎要花一點功夫做 research 了.

Brosco 的鄰居 “爆爆” 是一隻松獅Chao Chao, 很年輕， 只得兩歲，可惜青春期經常生青春痘，主人說他的皮膚很難打理，上次 Brosco 皮膚病，“爆爆” 便介紹Brosco 去位於天后的中央動物醫院，看那個專門幫流浪狗醫皮膚問題的 Dr. Gavin Liu 廖大夫，真的不錯。

前天晚上帶 Brosco 去太古坊同 Halen 飲兩杯，中途碰見 “爆爆” 主人，她說“爆爆”最近轉食 Eukanuba 尤卡專為有皮膚問題的狗而設的袋鼠味狗糧，皮膚有明顯的改善。

狗年紀大，身體狀況會出現改變，譬如免疫力減低，腸胃功能減退，運動量減少，以及牙齒問題的出現。

本來Brosco 食 Hills, 聽說不好，太油影響腸胃及皮膚，而且會肥，難怪!

Jessie 推介 Organic Food 有機狗糧，在 wisepet.com 有得訂，她說 Rabbit 很希歡食有機狗糧，貴一點也值得。

同事 Vincy也推介了幾個天然有機狗糧的排子。

根據朋友指示的牌子，做了一些資料搜集，再看了美國權威狗雜誌 World Dog Food Journal 的 十大優質狗糧Top 10 Dog Food 推介, 在問了Brosco的醫生，便得出了以下幾種，供 Brosco選擇：

以上第二到第八是World Dog Food Journal 的 十大優質狗糧，其中聽說Eagle Pack 近年品質下降，Solid Gold 抗敏感減肥狗糧特別適合非常敏感的狗或需要減肥及年老的狗，聽起來挺適合Brosco，Brosco的醫生推介 Canidae 年長/低熱量配方，比較大路，轉糧較易適應， 但Solid Gold有很多狗試過，口碑非常好，順理成章，Solid Gold 是首選，薯仔魚應該比較健康。

轉狗糧不能急，好像金魚缸換水一樣，需要慢慢來，“爆爆” 主人說第一個禮拜先一半舊糧一半新糧，第二個禮拜就全部食新糧，在觀察Brosco 的反應。希望Brosco轉狗糧後身形標準，身體健康，身心愉快吧!

轉眼間已經星期四了，過去的兩天很忙，除了幫襯美容院兩趟之外，還多買了兩條金魚，因為從媽媽那裏收養回來的兩條魚體型比其他六條小，被欺負了，都死了。

自從返新工以後，每天早上都坐巴士上班，家樓下的免費 “都市日報”，就成為上班路程的調劑了。每天讀報當然有一定的好處，可以增廣見聞，對身邊發生的事情瞭解多一點點。可是久而久之，我看到了很多社會問題，譬如童黨問題，倫常摻案，真的寧願不看。

但是如果我訂報紙，例如信報或經濟日報，又太大份，一程車肯定看不完，太浪費了，除非我只抽一小部份在早上看，看不完的就留在晚上看。

回想讀中學時很愛看南華早報的 Sunday Post， 大學是看信報作面試的凖憊，如果能持之以恆看信報看到現在，我的時事應該很不錯。

邁克 彭博

唔好意思，可能悶了一點，但是今日做了一些有關Bloomberg公司創辦人 Michael Bloomberg (邁克- 彭博) 的資料搜集，有以下幾點覺得幾有趣的想與大家分享：

- 出生于1942年情人節，除了前任太太Susan Bloomberg 外，情人包括歌星Diana Ross，藝員Marisa Berenson，舞蹈員 Ann Reinking，現任女朋友 DianaTaylor是紐約州銀行監管機構高層 – 全部靚女!

- 1966年於哈佛大學讀完MBA畢業，受聘於Salomon Brothers 投資銀行，於六年內成為合夥人 – 應該是破了記錄。

- 1982年被辭退，利用一千萬美元的遣散費創立 Bloomberg 的前身- Innovative Marketing Systems

- 于二十年內，Bloomberg成為一家市值二十億美金的公司，其間彭博做很多善事 – Bloomberg 從 911 以後沒有周年或聖誕晚會，以沙灘同樂日和慈善活動代之。

- 1999 年成為Forbes首一百個美國首富

- 2001年彭博被選為紐約市長， 不住市長官邸，而選擇每天坐地鐵上班 – 我比較喜歡坐巴士。

- 放棄了年薪一百九十五萬美元，只象徵式收取一元作酬勞 – 他是Bloomberg 的70% 股東，一百九十五萬對他來說不算些甚麼.

- 2001 年成為Forbes首五十個美國首富，今年排第四十四

仍須努力

星期六去了西貢玩滑浪風帆, 差不多一個月沒有玩, 以一個初學者來說, 基本上全部基本技巧都忘掉, 重新在腦裏回憶郭SIR教過我的, 還有玩過兩三次的經驗. 當天風太大了, Haro 又只顧自己玩, 由得我在水裏. 其實大部分時間, 我都是在拉帆和板到深水處, 然後一上水, 就給一股強力的季侯風吹回岸邊, 如此類推, 重複十幾次, 累死人啦! 只是玩了三個小時, 以經好像玩了一整天. 我要趁天氣還沒有轉冷, 多多練習!

毅行者支援

Jessie 老公 Alex 和 Professor Ma - Raymond 參加了十一月舉行的毅行者, Haro 和我是支援隊的一部分, 昨晚去了 Jessie 家 BBQ 和討論比賽時的細節. 一如平常, Alex 負責燒所有食物, 其他人負責食和吹水, Haro 最熱心陪 Rabbit 玩波波, 而 Verity 除了媽媽和工人以外，其他人抱就哭，Jessie 說白天會好一點，下次吧．HARO 和我負責於十一月十一號零晨三點送補給到沙田 Check Point No. 4，還有於十一月十一號晚上跟整個支援隊到終點站支持．

不知不覺喝了很多 Santori 和白酒，睡著了，Jessie 也睡了，但 Alex, Raymond 和 Haro 卻不知道為什麼在討論如何在北海道滑雪順便找機會做生意，很激烈，很奇怪．．．

珊迪娜布洛和奇洛李維斯再一次飾演情侶，好感人的愛情故事，男女主角也改寫了歷史，大團圓結局, 值得一看。

IKEA 飯枱

家裏的飯枱太大，又有太多椅子了，便到宜家家私看看。記得讀大學的時候，做了一個 有關宜家的case study， 學習重點是宜家的鋪面設計鋪面，是要客人由入口逛到出口，經過每一鐘產品，而中途是沒有其他出口的。我就是這樣，被逼由頭逛到尾，走了差不多半小時才到飯廳部。最後買了一張半圓可褶起的飯枱， 和兩張餐椅，全部都是復古咖啡色的，感覺暖暖的。

Roger Viver 新店開張

朋友Nic邀請到 Landmark Roger Viver 的新店看看，純粹好奇，因為Roger Viver實在太貴了。Roger Viver 是設計出全世界第一對鬥零高踭鞋的設計師，栩栩如生的玫瑰裝飾是這個品牌的經典設計。一對很普通的返工高踭鞋也要四千多塊，雖然好看的鞋子很難找，但這麼貴的，真的不敢高攀。

生命

第一次面對死亡是在去年爺爺過生的時侯，爺爺入院時我身在北京，過著朝九晚十一的生活，每日如是，早餐在酒店食，午餐和晚餐在客戶會議室食客戶準備的飯盒，除了星期六晚上和星期日外，都是工作，工作，再工作。

得悉爺爺中風入院的消息，整個人都崩潰了，又身在異地，不知所措，哭了一個晚上。第二朝向經理申請立即回港，還好莊好友認識港龍要員，安排中午機回港。這一乘飛機是一生中最難受的了，心急得要命。

到醫院第一件事飛奔去看爺爺，親朋戚友都圍著昏迷中的爺爺，場面傷感，大伯母叫我上前看爺爺，我握住他的手，握得很緊，他使勁睜大一隻眼睛看著我，他握得更緊，我忍不住落淚，抽泣。家人叫我不要讓爺爺知道我哭。

以後的幾天，爺爺再沒有醒過，直至第四天，安詳的走了。

麻麻今年也走了，和爺爺團聚了。

很想念爺爺和麻麻。

巨蟹座老友

從小到大，身邊總是有好幾個巨蟹座的好友。

好友昨晚到訪，踀桼而談，她和男朋友分手了，秘密拍拖六個月，剛過了密月期，現在是最重要的磨合期，盲目地愛這種化學作用以經沒有了，吵架多了，也傷感情。男朋友態度三百六十度轉變，對女朋友沒有交代，不上心，害怕被控制，不老實，女的感覺不到被愛，得不到尊重，也看不到將來，人始終會有一點點自私，不值得愛的，不要愛。好友很堅強，沒哭，可能已經哭完。

週末

過了一個非常悠閒的週末，星期六和 Haro 去了西貢玩水上活動，天清氣朗，心情愉快，他叫我選擇玩風帆或帆船。經過了一個禮拜的辛苦工作，加上剛開始練瑜加，肌肉還在記憶新的運動 (Muscle Memory) ， 累死人。於是我揀了帆船，兩個人一隻船，因為我不會玩，就不用動啦！ 可惜一滴風也沒有，實在大脎風景，我們在海中心慢慢的漂浮，也很浪漫。

忽然一男一女乘著風帆在我們付近出現了，由於沒有風的關係，他們把帆擱在帆船上，打算躺在帆船游泳回沙灘去，那個女的站不穩，還在格格大笑，她的聲音很熟，似曾相識，看真一點，原來是舊公司飯腳 Tracy。Tracy 和 Dorothy 八月歡送我時，我還未知道會在那裏上班，本來還以為會在太古城上班，以後沒甚麼機會跟她們食午飯，現在還是在長江中心工作，這禮拜一定要約這兩個美女共進午餐。

由於太沒風的關係，我們租了兩隻獨木舟，環繞沙灘前的一格小島走了一個圈，大學以來第一次玩，玩得很差，頭搖又尾擺的，但我享受和 Haro 一起的感覺，和享受被大海抱緊的感覺。

星期天和 Haro 帶了Brosco 去石澳後灘，風和日麗，有很多業餘攝影師替年輕模特兒拍照。Haro 懶洋洋的，只雇曬太陽，和看風景。而 Brosco 就不停地游水，還有和其他小狗玩。覺得 Brosco 的體力比以前差多了，他倆三歲時，經常陪我遊山玩水，去完西貢露營再去爬山也充滿活力，現在坐的士去玩一天，也累得他第二天走不動了。不過無輪如何，我也會一樣的愛他，照顧他。

禮物

自從Brosco 皮膚病復發, 我帶了他到寵物店做美容, 並把一身厚厚的皮草剃剩半寸, Brosco 的樣子看起來很可愛, 頭大身小, 沒那麼苯重, 立即年青了幾年, 像而且毛短了, 自然清爽多了, 相信 Brosco 也有同感, 背脊涼浸浸.

可是過了一兩天, 他開始食欲不振, 悶悶不樂, 還拉肚子! 把我嚇得半死, 馬上帶他看獸醫, 醫生說他可能在美容店感染腸胃炎, 幫他打了很多支針.

好采並非得了急性腸胃炎, 不會致命, 經過這次教訓, 我決定以後不會帶Brosco 到寵物美容店剪毛, 我會自己剪, 可是這很麻煩. 真矛盾, 不剪, 又容易出皮膚病, 剪, 又多功夫, 唉...

Special Toilet

There’s something about Artjamming that is so cool and should not be missed. The Toilet! It’s not a traditional water-flushing one but an incinerating toilet/ electronic toilet.

Incinerating toilets contain gas-fired or electric heating systems to burn waste products deposited in the holding tank, instead of flushing with water.

The incineration cycle produces a fine, sterile ash that can be thrown in the trash can. You produce as little as one tablespoon of ash per use!

新居入伙

除了金魚街, 還有一個買養魚用品和各種金魚及熱帶魚的好地方, 而且遠在天邊, 近在眼前, 位于南豐路口的香港水族廣場.

香港水族廣場本來是”東匯廣場”, 廣場內有屈臣氏, 百佳, 大家樂和實惠, 適合街坊購買每日所須, 會考及 A-Level 時期去自修室必經之路. 後來這裏開了一兩家水族店, 生意越做越好, 水族店也越開越多, 慢慢演變成現在的主題式概念水族廣場, 有著60 家水族店, 售賣各式各樣的魚類, 海洋生物, 以及水族用品.

廣場裏最吸引我的是一個大魚缸裏的水母, 色采繽紛, 翩翩起舞, 好可愛啊! 聽說帛琉 (Palau) 有一個水母湖 (Jelly Fish Lake), 裏面的水母是無毒的, 旅客可以和水母一起暢泳, 是一件賞心悅事, 真的很想去!

最後買了六條蘭壽, 它門頭很大, 圓圓的, 看起來好像翠怡, 肚子更大更圓, 魚鰭相對起頭和肚子, 就顯的很小啦. 背上是沒有魚鰭, 這個特點, 是我用來區分蘭壽和獅頭. 揀魚幷不花我很多時間, 只要是合眼緣, 活活潑潑, 游泳時平衡身體沒有問題就可以了. 售貨員幫我們抓魚, 所有蘭壽都躲起來, 好醒目,原來買金魚也可以很好玩呵!

昨晚, 這六條蘭壽, 和媽媽的兩條金魚, 就住進了那個在金魚街買的魚缸了, 好開心!

詢眾要求，今日會寫一個比較輕鬆的題目，昨天有關 Sarbanes-Oxley 的題材招惹了太多疑問，大家都不約而同地質疑何解 Elsa 會在網誌裡寫 Techincal Update，我都覺得這題材連 Auditors 朋友都不感興趣，在此向大家致歉。

記得中學時期經常同同學仔 Jam 流行曲，尤其是"嘉亨興"，由於他是小提琴高手，我們便成為同學仔參加學校歌唱比賽的"幕後"樂隊，印象深刻的有"杏花琪"唱的"問我"，"小西邦"唱的"傷了三個心"，羅日昭唱的"一個為你甘去踱火海的人"和全班一齊唱"上海灘"。近幾年很小彈琴，反而有濃烈的Jam 畫興趣，即邀三五知己一起畫畫，以交流靈感，及聚集吹水。

經朋友"E" 介紹，我去年第一次接觸 Artjamming。 Artjamming 是一間“自助水彩畫工作室”，我覺得這個名字十分貼切，因為在工作室裹，沒有人會教你畫畫，沒有人給你一主題作參考，一切憑空想像，任由你發揮創意。 Artjamming 位於威靈頓街蓮園對面，舖面面積約四百呎，舖內除了有兩位漂亮的店員，還有大大小小的畫板 (Canvases) ，有些是全新的，有些是顧客的作品，寄存吹乾，彩色繽紛，琳瑯滿目，在店鋪的一角，放滿了各種顏色的水彩顏料 (Acrylic Paints)器以供使用，還有畫筆，海棉等工具，畫水彩畫須用的，應有盡有。

由去年第一次接觸到現時，我去了 Artjamming 合共四次，主要以畫狗為題材，已經把自己所養的 Brosco 以及牠的老友 Jackal 和 Rabbit 都畫了，開始迷失方向，不知道畫什麼好，如閣下有任何主意，請指點。

Is Sarbanes-Oxley Act just expensive nuisances?

Read a news alert today and realized that a group of U.S. executives and academics plans to do something to revise portions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (“SOX”). They formed a committee called The Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, led by former White House Economic Adviser Glenn Hubbard and former Goldman Sachs President John Thornton. This group is also backed by Henry Paulson, the U.S. Treasury Secretary.

Sarbanes-Oxley Act was passed in 2002 after accounting scandals triggered the collapses of Enron Corp. and WorldCom Inc., and the demise of Andersen. It was established in the same year when AA Hong Kong and China merged with PwC. That was also when I started to go to work at Cheung Kong Centre and Lantau Island and stopped going to Landmark and Whampoa Garden.

SOX has been in place for four years and its purpose is to improve Corporate Governance and internal controls of listed companies. Section 404 of SOX requires management of listed companies to perform assessment and testing on the internal controls over financial reporting. It also requires auditors to audit the assessment and testing to express an opinion. Auditors have more work to do but audit fee increased quite significantly in the first year of adoption.

Executives and auditors of accelerated filers has been certifying the internal controls over financial reporting since fiscal year ends on or after November 15, 2004. According to the news alert, the Business Roundtable, which is an association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. stock market led by Harold McGraw III, said that 40% of its members will pay more than US$10 million each this year to comply with SOX. Another research firm estimated that U.S. Companies will spend a combined of US$6 billion this year to comply. Without doubt, this is good news to me and my friends from PwC and Protiviti.

However, SOX does deteriorate the competitiveness of U.S. stock market. In 2001, the U.S. accounted for 35 percent of all IPO but up to last year, it was down to 20 percent of all IPOs. And worse, the top 10 stock offerings did not list in the U.S. A few of my old U.S. listed clients even thought about delisting their securities from the SEC in order to reduce cost. Is the complexity of regulations seen as a boost of good corporate governance or a threat to the expansion of the U.S. economy?

Goldfish Street

A Fung Shui Master told me recently that keeping goldfish will improve the Fung Shui at my place. I would not say that I am super - superstitious but I do believe in fate and harmony with the environment. So, I decided to bring some new pets home.

While I am thinking about getting some goldfish, Alex, a friend of mine who just got a nice aquarium for his turtles, suggested that Goldfish Street is something I should not miss. Goldfish Street is actually Tung Choi Street, located in between Mongkok and Prince Edward. Probably the most popular thing about Goldfish Street is the rows of aquariums and pet shops the stretch along the 2 km long street. I am well-known for being lazy to go to the Kowloon side but it is still worthwhile to take a look.

Goldfish street was not as crowded as I expected, probably because it was late when Haro and I got there last night. The aquariums, no matter fresh water or salt water, display aquatic organisms that impressed me. I couldn't help but wondered, how could these marine fish, which belong to the deep blue ocean, survive in a small tank like this. In fact, the maintenance of an aquarium, especially those for salt water fish, requires the careful regulation of water flow, temperature, light, food, and oxygen, removal of debris, and attention to the special requirements of the individual species kept. Green aquatic plants are often used in aquariums to provide fresh oxygen. It becomes an expensive hobby for some people to keep sea anemone fish (clown fish/ nemo) and soft corals at home, which requires them to spend money on buying aquarium and all facilities that maintain the aquariums.

Finally, I got a 50 cm x 29 cm x 29 cm tank and some basic facilities for HK$300. The anemone fish reminded me of scuba diving in Palawan.
